Mainly Music
Brookfield Mainly Music has now been running for two terms
(since July) and participant children and mums, grandmothers and carers have
eagerly attended weekly sessions, becoming familiar with the songs, getting to
know each other and the team, and are obviously enjoying this special time
together each week. It is great to see the children singing, and talking to and
playing with each other, and to observe them maturing and progressing each week.
The program is educationally based and it has been wonderful to observe how the
children have developed over the last few months. Mums have also valued the
chance to have time out and the opportunity to chat together.
The enthusiastic team have, with dedicated commitment, prepared for and run each session so successfully. There is a great bond which has developed among team members and participants and they all enjoy the time together each week, the delicious morning teas (with home cooked food donated by volunteer parishioners from Brookfield) and the great music. There is a core of 7 or 8 ladies on team and an additional 6 or so team members who are on a roster. About 8 team members are needed each week to set up and run the sessions and we have not had one week so far when there have not been enough team members to run the sessions. We are also fortunate that we have a pool of excellent session leaders to be the ‘up-front’ person for each session.
There has been much positive feedback from parents and children including some who told us that they really missed the sessions over the school holidays. Because of the large number of participants, we have run two groups each Thursday morning at Brookfield and it is planned to introduce an additional group in the Kenmore Church hall in 2009 on Wednesday mornings (term time only).
The wonderful response from community families and from Parish volunteers has been overwhelming. This has been an exciting innovation which is proving extremely successful. God has blessed us and is allowing us to reach out through the Mainly Music program into the community.
Please contact the Parish Office if you are interested in assisting (on a rota) with the program at either Kenmore or Brookfield in 2009.
If you know of any parents of 0-5 year olds who may be interested in attending Mainly Music in 2009, please advise them to contact the Jennifer Bradbury on 3378 7406 a.s.a.p. Bookings are limited and will be processed in the order they are received.
Thanking you for your continuing support and prayers,
Jeanette Jamieson
